The movie was entertaining. More like a good episode of Black Mirror or Dr. Who than a obese hollywood "blockbuster", so no complaints from me. It answered questions, and yes there were some sort of dumb concepts.
But it was by no means confusing or hard to follow, at least not form me. The tie-in to the original Cloverfield was actually way more satisfying than the total absence of meaningful connecting dots that came with 10 Cloverfield Lane, which was also an okay movie.
If you think of this as more of an episode in an anthology that's telling the broader story of this/these universe/s, then it's pretty entertaining. The "professional" critics are wrong on this movie, yet again.
They're getting to be so far off from the takeaways of the majority of my friends and family on pretty much every science fiction film. 17%? That's ridiculous. Just feels like paid/angry puff pieces or spam that miss all the relevant points of the movies they're supposedly trying to understand.
