As with the other installments in this Franchise, it has to be viewed as an entity in its own . I thought it was really good storytelling chaos that occurs when dimensions are intertwined . Plus it gives a possible explanation for the creatures appear in the first two movies .

To expect hey Cloverfield movie to ever be linear storytelling with a beginning ending and resolved conclusion , is to not understand the whole concept of Cloverfield and each of its installments .
