Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Ian W — 09 Feb 2018
Despite the reviews I decided to watch the movie. Full disclosure I am a fan of the series.
I do not understand the hate and the bad reviews. No plot holes, no more cliche than any other film in this genre and quite frankly a great effort by Bad Robot and Netflix.
There is no muddled mix of genres, they spare no characters out of sentimentality, the story does not loop back to cover it's tracks or fill in holes.
Don't pay any attention to the talking heads who review movies for a living. They get into the business for a love of cinema and quickly become jaded.
Check out their reviews, all the adjectives they used were hurled at them by partners or spouses.
Limp, rushed, disappointing dud. These guys dialed it in. They should not have listened to their wives and you should not listen to them.
If you are looking for a theater blockbuster, go to the theater. This is Netflix, they keep improving their game and this is a great effort.
Never trust a guy, or gal, who get paid to be a critic. If they aren't bitter when they start they sure as poop end up that way.
Great Movie. Worth the time.
