Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Chrissotru — 26 Feb 2018

It was incredibly insulting to see that this movie has disrupted the consistensty of the Cloverfield (somewhat) franchise. The first two installments were incredibly chilling and so well choreographed that it would leave its mark on the suspense genre.

This film, however, was such a ridiculous outlier that disregarded any legacy that it was hoping to build up. Expect a few twists to leave you confused, but the bad yet predictable writing will relieve your mind of thinking at all.

While the acting is satisfactory in this film, there is hardly any element to make this film uniquely cinematic. The problem with this movie is the lack of effort and the typical path that most effortless movies have gone down to.

It does not help that the speculation around the monsters and creatures in this universe are only clouded with more questions. Questions that we're supposed to find the answer to in another obsure prequel with an even more obscure premise.

In short, this movie is nothing special. Just like any other Netflix film, it tends to bore you with nothing left for thought.
