Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by William James S — 04 Feb 2018

This film features a very strong cast, great production design and some effective visual effects. Unfortunately, the narrative comes across as very uneven as it can't seem to focus on any one genre.

Is it a horror film, science fiction creature feature or an intriguing espionage film? It has a few effective "boo scares", and some fairly gory scenes that make you go "ewww", but overall it doesn't seem to know where it's going.

If you haven't seen the other "Cloverfield" films, it's probably best to see the original, as they kind of tie together.
