Review of The Closet (2001) by Chris G — 08 Nov 2008
The Closet has a plot that could come right out of Three's Company (man creates illusion he is gay to save his job), but it's strengths are:
1) Great actors giving great performances.
2) Veber is the most understated farceur I've ever seen. No mugging for the camera, no frenzied chases, just a relentless march to the logical conclusion of the situations he sets up.
3) A cheerful humanism.
I smiled through all of the movie, laughed loudly at several parts and came out feeling much better about the world.
