Review of The Clock (1945) by Edith N — 22 Sep 2007
A beautifully filmed, sentimental romance story set during war time. Though falling flat in some parts, this film is over flowing with charm and I immediately was sucked into the story. Despite the two characters barely knowing each other, the chemistry between the two leads and the rich screenplay combine to make the audience genuinely care about Joe and Alice.
The film is dated but in a beautiful way, the audience is transported back to a simpler time when people were generally more carefree, and the opportunity for love even in the middle of a war, was seized without hesitation. It's a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable romance that leaves an impression.
