Review of The Climax (1944) by Tristan D — 16 Jun 2009
An underrated chiller although still not without its problems. There is no real tension or mystery and the way everyone gullibly lets Karloff take control of Foster makes the film drag. The musical numbers are also disgustingly out of place for the time period.
But The Climax is a gorgeous film, with amazing technicolor design serving as the backdrop for Foster's beautiful singing and Karloffs heated vengence. Turhan Bey is also a riot as he eats his theater program.
