Review of The Clearing (2004) by Ryan S — 05 Oct 2010
This movie had potential and it definitely wasn't a bad movie, it just wasn't all it could have been. It has a great cast with great performances by Dafoe, Redford and Mirren and there's a great atmosphere and it really does make you feel sympathy for the family and there's some great emotion in it, the only problem is the plot just isn't really there.
It's just a simple kidnapping story, where the husband is kidnapped for no real reason and the family is trying to find him, nothing more to it. However, it is a true story, so I guess they just worked with the material they had and when you look at it that way, they pulled it off quite well.
