Review of The Clearing (2004) by Errol D — 07 May 2005
With Helen Mirren, Robert Redford and Willem Dafoe one can but expect a facinating and thought provoking movie.
This is one of those "kidnap for ransom" stories which unlike the other movie "ransom" is not about the kidnap at all but more a journey of discovery and wistfullness.
Though the end is a bit disappointing and confusing ( almost like the director was running out of time and decided to end it ) , the story is taut and even though nothing really happens a lot changes in the minds of the characters.
This is one movie I will most certainly watch again. Its like a good painting , you never know what you may find everytime you look at it.
