What if a good kidnapping thriller wasn't about the kidnapping, but about who's involved? The Clearing take a chance in that direction, and does so succesfully. A character study more than a thriller --or is it? Isn't it more of a thriller because it is a character study-- this movie is clean, clear, logical yet unpredictable.
