Review of The Class (2008) by Alex G — 28 Mar 2009
As a student, it can become very easy to not see things from a teacher's perspective; The Class opened my eyes. I consider this film vital viewing for any young person who aspires to be a teacher. In fact, this film is vital viewing for anyone young or old who wants to see the modern classroom without the rose-colored filter of so many "inspirational teacher" movies.
This is an absolutely real, completely three-dimensional view of the educational system that gives no easy answers to questions where there are none to be found. The Class takes place in a French classroom, but it could have just as easily taken place anywhere else in the world.
The problems are universal, and are just as difficult to answer.
