Review of The Class (2008) by Karen S — 06 Apr 2009
The author/main actor was horrid. You don't get respect through disrespect. You don't get trust through distrust. So I guess, points for writing a book and making a film that shows just how horrible a person you are.
The students were heartbreaking- intelligent, bright, amazing students. The fact of the matter is this: No one cares what you know until they know that you care. Writing this it occurs to me how much I really need to get back into the public sector.
I could have had this class loving me while having complete and total control from Day One. The film disppointed me because there was no redemptive moment where the teacher saw the error of his ways. Is this arrogance a French thing? Apparently the Americans don't hold a monopoly it anymore!
