Review of The Class (2008) by Ryan M — 20 May 2009
The Palme d'Or? Really?! Easier to admire than it is to love, this cynical excercise in style over substance is successful in its inventive structure but not so much with its plot. It presented many talking points: the multicultural aspect of its Parisian suburbs, the difficult classroom dynamics, the relationships between teachers.
But the development of these themes becomes arrested rather abruptly. Mixed feelings.
