Review of The Class (2008) by Fred A — 16 Nov 2009
Given the over-the-moon praise from art house buffs I wasn't blown away by last year's meandering French art film about a dysfunctional urban classroom. The students are all loud and obnoxious, which is the whole point; but that's annoying.
The Class was so constantly disrupted by juvenile behavior that you could barely pinpoint what subject it was in, which raises valid questions about education reform. Like, is there even a point in trying? Unfortunately, the movie was so unedited that it felt just like the worst classes I've ever had, and the ones I most wanted to escape.
Tough sell.
