In a nutshell: We follow a term in a tough inner city Paris high school, as one teacher struggles with his class and the school system.

There are plenty of films about teaching. From schmaltzy Finding Forrester to Dead Poets Society. Pfeiffer vanity vehicle Dangerous Minds, to Hilary Swank in the right on but a bit melodramatic Freedom Writers.

The Class is so convincingly written and subtley acted we may as well be watching a documentary, and although the story may not have any explosive twists or endings, it is a compelling and fascinating drama, both shocking and funny and with a real, human teacher who makes mistakes like everyone else. I give it an A.
