Review of The Class (2007) by David C — 28 Aug 2009
As a teacher myself I thought this was a fascinating account of the day-to-day reality of motivating and dealing with a very disruptive and disinterested class. Almost nothing happens but that's what makes this so good - a twenty five minute scene where the teacher attempts to explain the imperfect subjunctive (brings back memories!) to a group of kids who are just not interested is really well-observed.
The French education seems mad, right enough!
