A flawed gem, hamstrung by prejudice against the subject matter & an ending to the book which doesn't lend itself to cinema. Daryl Hannah is very good in it (including in a couple of great 'Go Girl!' scenes) & the recreation of the Neanderthal language & customs is an achievement.
