Review of The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986) by Byron D — 21 Nov 2009
Separated from her Cro-Magnon people by an earthquake, Ayla is adopted by a less-developed, male-dominated Neanderthal clan. She's different in appearance, in resourcefulness, in her uncommon defiance of social taboos.
Through her own strength and courage she portrays a possible episode in early man's development.
