Review of The Claim (2000) by Gavin L — 20 Mar 2007
This film locates itself in the same world of Altman's 'McCabe and Mrs. Miller' except the colour is grey as opposed to McCabe's muddy brown. It is also a film about the pioneers of yesteryear and the immigrants who made up the populations of those small towns.
Underrated and overlooked, this is one of Winterbottom's great films, and the place where his reputation should lie. Astonishing!
