Review of The Citadel (1938) by Andrew B — 12 Aug 2008
Robert Donat -what an actor! He only made 20 films, but his performances are such solid, conscientious pieces of craftsmanship and dedication that they are pure gold. He is extremely underrated, but this film is amongst his best, and a cracking good film to boot.
A brilliant supporting cast, careful and interesting cinematography and an intelligent script. Moving and gripping.
