Review of The Circus (1928) by Rian C — 14 Feb 2008
Solid Chaplin film. There is a scene with a tightrope and some crazy monkeys that, by itself, is worth the price of admission. The ending took me a little by surprise; in less than a minute, the tone changed from that of a light-hearted rom-com to introspective and significant - and it worked.
Well done, Charlie. I guess that's why he's the master.
