It took me 10 years to finally watch the film adaptation of one of my favorite John Irving stories. Unfortunately, despite the fact that Irving adapted this himself, it was only good and not great. Tobey Maguire delivered a flat and monotone performance that slowed things down to a monotonous crawl.
