Review of The Chumscrubber (2005) by Dickie L — 16 Feb 2009
Well this is a strange little film. In this affluent American suburb the adults are so vacuous and self-involved, its no wonder the youth are disaffected. Poor little Jamie Bell is recoiling from his social milieu after the death of his best friend, and who can blame him.
Glenn Close and Allison Janney are fabulous as always and have one great scene together. I have no idea what Ralph Fiennes' character is doing, but I enjoyed it anyway. Not sure the titular video game analogy really works and the ending is pretty lame, but enjoyable for much of its length.
