Review of The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) by Jy S — 02 Jul 2013
The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury is an animation that Peter Chung does right.Bridging the gap between Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, this 30 minute story has the potential to be a full length picture of its own.
A giant space ship, a dark minded villain, and some sci-fi creatures all make for an intriguing watch. The visuals have that Asian mature look, which is what the Riddick universe is all about. In regards to the action, the violence is mature, although the blood intensity is mild.
Vin Diesel's voice is bland as the Riddick character requires, but it does feel a bit off hearing it on an animated character. Rhiana Griffith, Nick Chinlund, Keith David, and Tress MacNeille fill out the supporting characters with favorable voice work.
With a brief run time, it's hard to pass up The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. Recommendable.
