Review of The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) by Panta O — 13 Jun 2012
The Chronicles of Riddick is a SF movie which follows the adventures of Richard B. Riddick, as he attempts to elude capture after the events depicted in the 2000 film Pitch Black. Directed by David Twohy, (Pitch Black), the film stars Vin Diesel (reprising his role as Riddick), Karl Urban, Alexa Davalos, Thandie Newton, Colm Feore, Judi Dench, and Keith David (reprising his role as Imam from Pitch Black).
I never watched Pitch Black and maybe that is why I thought that this is not bad movie! There are lots of things to be improved, there was something missing in the screenplay to keep the whole story coherent, and there were few instances where you could almost feel the director cutting down on the zeal of reaching a real crescendo in the action sequences... but that could be only my opinion!
It was packed with comic book action, visually appealing, and even the idea of the story was somehow acceptable and still didn't move much above the average as an art work. If you feel like enjoying good graphics, love futuristic stories with lots of fighting, and happy endings are a must for you - rent it!
