Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) by James S — 29 Aug 2011
Lewis' books are very strong in the aspect of world-building. However, I find them inconsistent when it comes to story. Perhaps it's because The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is such a direct allegory to the Christian faith, all subsequent installments seem comparatively weak.
One of my major complaints about the book is that it feels too much like a random collection of island-hopping stories and less like a serialized quest. The movie helped with that, but it still felt somewhat disconnected.
Fans of the books will enjoy this film. It's not terrific for casual viewing, though.
