Review of The China Syndrome (1979) by Kevin M — 20 Mar 2011
This movie would have been much more enjoyable had they taken a fuel rod and beaten that Marxist traitor Jane Fonda unconscious for her anti-American activities.
Traitor Jane Fonda plays a reporter trying to uncover the truth about nuclear safety after an earthquake causes a near-meltdown at a nuclear power plant in California. Incidentally, China didn't even utilize nuclear power until 1991, so I'm unclear where the name "China Syndrome" came from, especially when naming it "Japan Syndrome" would have made a lot more sense given recent events, amirite?
Ultimately I found this movie to be a rudderless bore which actually reiterated my belief in nuclear power given that the two "incidents" portrayed in the film were minimal and were both averted as real catastrophes by the nuclear plant's crew members whose extensive training and expertise averted potential disaster, which is more than anyone can say about what happened in the Gulf last year.
