Applause to Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine (and everyone else involved) for having the guts to do this in a time when homosexuality was rewarded with torture and shunning. The ending didn't really get the cause anywhere though.
Death should not be portrayed as the only moral way out of something like homosexuality! So it wasn't that ahead of its time, I guess...
