Review of The Children of Huang Shi (2008) by Relief B — 14 Jun 2008
This movie had monster potential and it kind of failed in the telling. Not least because Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is a TERRIBLE actor. It's rather tragic, too, because he is supposed to carry the plot. This movie relied on the inspiring and important nature of the story to tell itself...it was like the most incredibly passive story telling ever. It was a great story, but 50 lame lines and 27 dropped plot threads and character backstories later, the story just felt irrelevant.
However, great scenery, beautiful music, and redeemable moments, mostly involving very cute Chinese orphans.
