Review of The Children of Huang Shi (2008) by Barbara C — 09 Sep 2009
A very well paced movie that keeps your interest and attention the whole way through. The film is primarily focused on Hogg's development and journey than it is the childrens', but they are an integral part of that process. The entire cast gives superb performances, the script and editing are top notch, and the set designs and landscapes are breathtaking.
As for drawbacks, it is, perhaps, a bit bland, but I can't pin down what they are. They don't push anything unnecessary on the viewer, curtailing scenes that could have gone out of control or lead away from the story that was building, perhaps that is why. It is a nearly perfect construction with oh so few flaws to be found.
