Review of The Changeling (1980) by Will H — 16 Dec 2008
Very well directed and acted. It is atypical of most horror flicks being churned out now both in those regards and in its protagonists, all of whom are at least middle aged. However, the strengths of the film pit themselves against each other. George C. Scott does a tremendous job and is (again, atypically) level headed throughout the film--which takes away much of how we relate to him in the film as he does not display a great deal of vulnerability (once things start going).
Be sure to at least watch the film through the well scene for the two best shots in the film: looking down into and up out of the well.
