Review of The Change-Up (2011) by Dc E — 07 Feb 2012
"The Change-Up" 10 Scale Rating: 6.0 (Decent) ...
At times it tried way too hard to be raunchy, but it had enough funny moments to redeem itself.
Two life long friends (Reynolds, Bateman), decide that they want eachother's lives. One of them (Reynolds) lives the life of a bachelor, while the other (Bateman) is married with kids. They wake in the morning to find that they are now in eachother's bodies.
Despite the flaws in the movie, the two leads are extremely likeable and it makes it difficult to hate this movie. There are a few scenes that were way too silly and simply were not funny at all. Then there were the attempts at gross-out humor that at times went way too far.
Having said that, there were several scenes that were genuinely funny. Add to that dialogue that was full of wit and humor and you can overlook the warts.
Solid movie that is a step above "Hall Pass", but way below "Horrible Bosses" ...
