Review of The Change-Up (2011) by Anthony R — 23 Oct 2012
The Change-Up is annoying, by-the-numbers comedy that takes the gross-out route at every turn. Reynolds plays one of the most unpleasant characters I've seen in years, acting like a teenager with a social behavior disorder and no sense of tact.
Bad CGI is used to mask actresses not having the courage to perform nude scenes, and to portray babies in crude and harmful situations. The film is helmed by David Dobkin (of Wedding Crashers fame) and the writers of The Hangover.
After seeing this, it's obvious the real talent behind Hangover was Todd Phillips and his rewrite of that script, and not the scribes who penned this trash. Dobkin makes this no more distinct or unique than as a dirty Freaky Friday.
