Vidor directs a sweet, good natured film that is certainly above par for films of the awkward sound transition era. I was really impressed by jackie cooper, who plays the champs kid. wallace beergy was also quite good.
irene rich was horrid though. anyway, it does drag a bit but then again, most films from this period do.
