Review of The Chamber (1996) by Riemill M — 05 Aug 2007
There have been some great Grisham adaptations into films, and this is one of the hardest ones to judge. This movie had a knockout cast that included Gene Hackman doing an amazing job as Sam Cayhall, and Chris O'Donnell also adapting to his role very well.
Faye Dunaway doesn't dissapoint in her role as the haunted aunt either. However, this storyline just doesn't do it for me. I don't want to invest 113 minutes just to see the main character gassed at the end with no surprises.
But if you had to blame anyone for the storyline/ending it would be Grisham himself, not the moviemakers. James Foley overall does a pretty good job with this one. Great cast, good writing, and acceptable scene work.
