Review of The Cell (2000) by Jason M — 15 Aug 2010
The Cell features truely amazing visuals and a some of the best set design I have seen in a long time. The downfall of the film is the somewhat bland cop chasing the serial killer spin on the story, but the premise was great.
The main characters interact in a dream world and this world happens to be through the eyes of a serial killer. The movie features a very bizarre and imaginative world in the mind of the killer. I honestly don't think the story's shortcomings earned the movie a rotten rating as many critics seem to think so although knowing some of the cheeseball critics on RT they probably thought this was supposed to be a Disney film.
Be warned though, some of the scenes are quite disturbing (in other words it earned it's R rating). If your into the sci/fi horror with a twist of suspense this is your movie. I would say its a cross between Dreamscape and Hannibal.
