Review of The Cell (2000) by Derick G — 23 Jun 2011
No plot? No logic? No meaning? (as Nell Minow of Common Sense Media so dismissively dished.) Perhaps if you were at all familiar with the pioneering work of Winnicott regarding childhood trauma or had read Donald Kalsched's "The Inner World of Trauma: Archetypal Defenses of the Personal Spirit", you might grasp at least some of the daimonic undertones of this intriguing film.
Logic requires deduction and inference. Two qualities not suited to the intellectually lazy. And as to meaning, the mere fact that you lack the aptitude to extract the necessary significance upon which meaning depends in no way "means" it wasn't present.
Advanced mathematical concepts mean nothing to my math handicapped brain, but I know better than to label them meaningless.
