Review of The Cave (2005) by Corey B — 22 Jun 2011
This has a good enough premise to work (heck, The Descent, with a similar premise ended up being one of the best horror films ever), but sloppy direction ruins it.
There's never a moment where you really feel like these characters are in danger. The only scene that comes close to creating suspense involves Piper Perabo's ill-fated climb. The rest of the time it plays like James Cameron light with the goofy added feature of having Cole Hauser slowly be infected by a parasite. It doesn't add anything to the story.
It's watchable enough, but it's never all that engaging, and the monsters aren't particularly scary.
