Review of The Castle (1997) by Casselise R — 18 Apr 2011
Hilariously funny, the castle is as Aussie as you can get. Whilst stereotypical, it is not unbelievable. The Kerigans are the Aussie family everyone either is, or remembers someone being.
Daryl Carrigans house is right next to the Melbourne Airport, an airport that the government is planning on extending & so have offered the Kerrigans a sum for their home in order to extend.
Most home owners you would think would be thrilled to move away from the harsh roar of planes flying overhead, but this house is where memories were made. Complete with pool room, greyhounds named after the seven dwarfs, hideous wallpaper and a sweet natured shazza wife, the Kerrigans house is home for all the right reasons and as Daryl takes the government to the high court in a David & Galioth battle to keep his house, it is proved that good old Aussie pride will always will out. An absolute cult classic & suitable for the whole family.
"Take it straight to the pool room".
Children: The odd swear word, that's it.
Religion: No offence.
Precautions: Low level course language.
