Review of The Cannonball Run (1981) by Freddy M — 22 Mar 2011
Like many of a certain age, watching this was a trip down a high speed memory lane. And revisiting it as an adult, I am a little shocked... not at how bad it is, of course - even as a kid one cold tell how silly and stupid it was.
What was surprising is how aggressively sexist and racist the movie is. Farrah Fawcett's character has a name, but everyone just calls her "beauty". And "chocolate monk" ? "Camel jockey" ? Really ?!? Roger Moore is the only one who comes close to escaping the wreckage, parodying himself.
