Review of The Campaign (2012) by David W — 13 Feb 2013
Can't quite give it a 7/10. Maybe a 6.5 as I did laugh and it is a little more cynical than some other political movies of the sort. It's a typical Will Ferrell movie with a little more swearing than usual.
American politics is one of the biggest jokes in the history of man. Occasionally, a movie tries to be funny about it...pointing out some flaws while some average Joe inspires the masses...the Chris Rock movie, the Robin Williams movie...and Dave is actually a great flick. As I said, Campaign is a little more cynical. No real generalities, but two brothers who will do anything and buy anyone to make an extra buck. Hmmmm, we have the Cock brothers in real life and theys some nasty son of a bitches. (There is a scene here when they are walking out of the crowded room and no one does anything...reminded me of when Madoff was walking down the street and pushed the camera man. Ilk like that should not be allowed to walk, let alone push an honest guy doing an honest job).
Anyway, as a typical Ferrell flick, there is some to laugh at. Probably more so the more you watch and remember the lines. The funniest part to me was the early dinner table scene. Completely over the top but I'll be damned if those kids didn't say some ridiculous things and they just kept going. Good stuff.
