Review of The Campaign (2012) by Kevin R — 05 Jan 2014
I went to the petting zoo and let the goat lick my penis.
Cam Brady is a simple man that wants power, great sex, and money. He is living the American dream and clearly on track to become a significant figure in North Carolina politics and maybe even on the national stage...until a sex tape of sorts gets out. Now he has a black mark on his resume opening the door for competition. A new candidate, with a clean slate and financial backing comes to the forefront to take on Brady. This won't be a clean and friendly fight for the office.
"Jesus would give him a tongue lashing...not like the one he just requested.".
Jay Roach, director of The Austin Powers Trilogy; Mystery, Alaska; Meet the Parents; Meet the Fockers; Dinner for Schmucks; and the upcoming The Brink, delivers The Campaign. The storyline for this picture is actually okay and reminded me slightly of Talladega Nights. The comedic content was a bit inconsistent but the cast did a solid job and includes Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Sudeikis, Brian Cox, Dylan McDermott, and Katherine LaNasa.
"All you had to do was tickle him and he'd shit his pants.".
The Campaign is a movie that intrigued me when the previews first aired so I recently DVR'd this off cable. There were a lot of funny sequences and good one-liners that made this film fairly entertaining. The plot is really ridiculous and some scenes are more "uncomfortable" than "funny." I would say this is a fairly mediocre comedy that is worth seeing once but not worth adding to your DVD collection.
"You are a sad little fucker, aren't you?".
Grade: C+.
