Review of The Call (2013) by Lee C — 30 Jan 2014
Starts off with a 'taken' vibe to it and changes into an ok kidnapping film albeit done over a telephone to 911. Lots of people running about trying to track down a car that seems easy to pinpoint for a long time. We then get the silence of the lambs bit (no backup tracking down option).
And, as a lot of reviewers have rightly stated, the film finally degrades into an almighty bedpan of a mess.
It's overblown and melodramatic and I found myself picking huge holes in the situations. Its second problem, which is far too familiar now, is the carbon copy of a plethora of Hollywood films. Nearly every film coming out seems to follow well worn formulas that ultimately don't excite or intrigue. This film has the same boring blueprint of too many films.
