Review of The Cake Eaters (2007) by Claire B — 09 Jun 2009
Here is how I feel about this movie: there were some terrible actors in this and some extremely awkward scenes and the dialogue was painful at times, but the story itself is a nice one. Nice. As in, not too exciting, not something I'm going to remember a few months from now, but not so god-awful that it ranks on the 'worst films ever' list.
The old-people sex really turned me off, the brother's storyline could have been completely cut out and the grandmother was just too much like a Tranny to enjoy her performance. I was also frustrated with the final sex-scene between the two main characters because it was so non-magical, non-sweet, non-anything that I mostly felt NOTHING about their relationship and I don't think that's what the filmmakers or actors were shooting for.
Most people will probably see this due to the Twilight franchise and perhaps some will enjoy it.
