A very good film that doesn't achieve greatness due to an inconsistent script and some incredibly bad acting. Bogart, Ferrer, Johnson MacMurray are all great, but Robert Francis, May Wynn and Katherine Warren are all terrible, and the romantic subplot that involves them is right out of a drugstore romance novel.
