Not one of bogies best performances but certainly still good. id rather see him in a noir but thats personal preference. everyone else was uninteresting. the story, though, treads difficult ground but does so for the most part admirably.
the final scathing scene is wonderful and carries a great deal of weight even today. I think its true that many people write others off and dont offer a helping hand but would rather kick them while their down.
