Review of The Caine Mutiny (1954) by Steve S — 03 Jul 2009
This movie was actually released in 1954, not 1952. The story about a U.S. Navy minesweeper in world war II U.S.S. Caine. The crew, not used to the spit and polish Navy comes under the command of Captain Queeg played brilliantly by Humphrey Bogart.
The crew particularly the main officers start to wonder if Queeg is mentally unstable due to some of Queeg's questionable actions. Also in the cast is Van Johnson, Fred MacMurray and Jose Ferrer. Great direction from Edward Dmytryk and a fine musical score by Max Steiner.
Watch and see for yourself. Also look for a young Lee Marvin.
