Review of The Cable Guy (1996) by Alvin Y — 20 Oct 2010

Jim Carrey once again in a very funny and now at this time very strange person in this film by Ben Stiller. Well, Carrey also played a bad guy in âBatman Foreverâ? as Riddler, he played OK on that movie but on this one, I think it's just fine. The way that I think of Carrey's performance here is like in Ace Ventura, as a very overacting and laughable character to laugh with. I mean he is not a comedian here, he was also a villain even at the end.

Enough of talking about Jim Carrey, so let's talk about this film. Overall, I like it, it's a dark, strange and at the same time very weird comedy. The only thing that makes this movie work is of course Carrey's acting and the personality that we see to Steven, played by Matthew Broderick. In this picture, we also learned that if a person refuses to become friends, then he or she will do anything to be your real friend, well as we see in this movie, Carrey's character is like a stalker and very manipulative person that also goes into the lives of others. That's all for this review because I would spoil everything that you would see. So, all in all this film is fine not horrible, and at least there is something good happened at the end.
