Review of The Cable Guy (1996) by Jazen H — 07 Aug 2014
Stiller's talent is undeniable but rendered him helpless during Cable Guy because he was pitching to an American audience that wouldn't comprehend anything other than Carrey playing the hapless fool.
This is a great movie that showed Carrey could expand his acting beyond climbing out of a rhino's anus. Stiller's direction is impeccable for a novice at the time, and most critics couldn't wrap their head around something that actually made them think about what America has become.
